OK, I had to wait a long time before I did this, but I think it's really funny. Mandy and I have really had a lot of great people being very generous to us in all the preparations and gifts for our baby. We had a shower a couple weeks ago, and got pretty much everything. We got a lot of other stuff, too. We got a lot of stuff that was like "wow, this is cool, I'm glad they thought about that," and a few "what the hell where they thinking?" Mandy was doing her duty as a polite and proper lady and filling out the tahnkyou cards. I was drinking beer on the couch and watching TV, and she was telling me about who gave us what and stuff. I came up with the idea to send out a ranking of the who and what, you know, like the standings after a race. In first place, from who ever, a gift of bla, bla, bla... In second... And then of course if you have that, you'd have to have the "failed to qualify" list... Yeah, it was shot down as soon as (or even before) I finished saying it... But it's an idea. We got some good laughs out of it. I think I'll add it to the book I'm writing about how to be a good parent when you're a freak in the first place. it started out as a baby name book on not what to name your kid, with all the reasons to make fun of each name, but i think it's going to be something a lot bigger and much less useful.

The US PGA championship is in progress, and Dallasboy Justin Leonard is moving in fast. I'll be following it this weekend. I don't know what it is about watching golf, but I really do like it. I guess because it's something that you can kinda follow for a few days and then kick back and watch the last couple hours on Sunday when you're read to unwind. It's early on, Tiger's way back, but he'll be running up later on, and I think he'll be a contender by the time it's all over. Phil Mickelson's always one of my favorites, but I have a feeling that he'll be drinking Amstel Light in the clubhouse with the golf groupies by the time the leaders are rouding the 9th hole. I dare him to prove me wrong.

Golf is a funny thing... No body in my immediate family has played, or my grandparents. I got into it about 2 or 3 years ago, and it's been a good deal. Not that I'm even close to good, but it's been fun. I've never been good enough to play basketball or softball on a league or anything, but golf has always been something fun. My friend Brent made me realize what I like about it... You're competing with yourself. No matter who you're playing with, you are the only one that you're up against. I'm still on the drive to break 100. I haven't played in about 6 weeks. I made myself quit for a while becase I was taking it too seriously, and it was taking the fun out of it. But I'm about to get back into it again. The weather's about to cool off. It's about to be here. If I can get in the groove where I'm writing a lot and playing golf enjoyably, I think I've got it going on pretty good.

I hadn't been on the old farterninty's website in a while, so I'm just messing around checking out all the stuff, go to the famous alumni page... The usual fellers are on there, Truman, Paul Harvey, etc., and a buch of scientists and stuff, and then I come across the few new guys. Kenny Chesney. The king of dork pop country. Sheeeeeit. But scrolling on down, I did find Jason Boland, one of the new hick-rock-country guru's, so I guess it all even's out.

After a brief hiatus, I am back. Computer's been down been busy a sh*t, and it's ufortunately been at a time when I've had more than a bunch of stuff to talk about. So here I am about 4 days later, and I'm going to try to remember it all and bust it out today at work. Right now, I'm enjoying a Big K cola that I snuck from the fridge here at MegaSuck Co., and I'm going to hit monster.com ina bit to see hwat my future holds.
